The skin sensitising potential of 4-butylbenzene-1,3-diol was assessed in the Sens-It-Iv programme.

The effect of the substance on IL-18 CD86 expression in MUTZ-3 and THP-1 cells was found to be negative. It can be concluded that the substance is not sensitising.

The effect of the substance on IL-18 production in NCTC cells was found to be negative. It can be concluded that the substance is not sensitising.
