First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General notes: In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

Following inhalation:

Remove from exposure site to fresh air and keep at rest. Obtain medical advice.

Following skin contact:

Wash thoroughly with soap and water; flush with plenty of water.

Take off spoilt clothes. Contact physician if symptoms persist.

Following eye contact:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 10 minutes at least. Contact a physician if symptoms persist.

Following ingestion:

Wash the mouth with water; seek medical advice immediately.

Notes for the doctor:

Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Treatment may vary with condition of victim and specifics of incident.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Potential Health Effects

Inhalation: May be harmful if inhaled. May cause respiratory tract irritation.

Skin: May be harmful if absorbed through skin. May cause skin irritation.

Eyes: May cause eye irritation.

Ingestion: May cause gastrointestinal tract irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Indication of the immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Persons with pre-existing skin, eye, or respiratory disease may be at increased risk from the irritant or allergic properties of this material.

Attending physician should treat exposed patients symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:       Small fire: use dry chemical powder.

Large fire: use water spray, fog or foam.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Do not use water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Combustible material. Forms explosive mixtures with air on intense heating.

Development of hazardous combustion gases or vapours possible in the event of fire.

Advice for fire-fighters

Do not stay in dangerous zone without self-contained breathing apparatus. In order to avoid contact with skin, keep a safety distance and wear suitable protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Use personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing vapors, mist or gas. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Environmental precautions

Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water. Do not allow to penetrate the ground/soil.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Absorb any spilt liquid with an absorbent (e.g. diatomite, vermiculite, sand) and dispose of according to regulations. Afterwards ventilate area and wash spill site.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

Occupational exposure limit values:

There are no currently occupational exposure limit values established for the substance.

Exposure controls

Appropriate engineering controls:

Provide exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep the airborne concentrations of vapors below their respective threshold limit value. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are proximal to the work-station location.

Personal protective equipment:

Eye and face protection: Sufficient eye protection should be worn. Wear glasses with side protection. If the eyes may potentially come in contact with the liquids, then chemical safety goggles are necessary.

Skin protection: Body protection:

Depending on the risk, wear a tight, long apron and boots or suitable chemical protection clothing.

                            Hand protection:

If protective gloves are used, the glove material must be resistant to the substance. Check the tightness before wear. Gloves shou                              ld be well cleaned before being removed, then stored in a well ventilated location. Pay attention to skin care.

The following materials are suitable for protective gloves (Permeation time >= 8 hours): Butyl rubber - Butyl (0.5 mm)

Following materials are unsuitable for protective gloves: Natural rubber/Natural latex – NR; Polychloroprene – CR; Nitrile rubber/N                             itrile latex – NBR; Fluoro carbon rubber – FKM; Polyvinyl chloride – PVC.

Respiratory protection: Required when vapours/aerosols are generated. Recommended Filter type: filter ABEK.

Thermal hazards: Not available.

Environmental exposure controls:

Do not let product enter drains.

Consumer exposure controls:

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
