Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Feropur and its degradation products are not considered to be surface active.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH (section 7.6) and the "Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance (May 2008), section R.7.1.6.1, page 78" the determination of the surface tension only needed if "based on structure, surface activity is expected or can be predicted or surface activity is a desired property of the material." Feropur contains no structures which indicate that Feropur or its constituents may be a surface active substance. When Feropur comes in contact with water, Feropur degrades within seconds. The degradation products are NaOH, H2 and Na2CO3. These degradation products are not considered to be surface active. Therefore, the test for water solubility of Feropur is not needed.
