Description of key information

According to column 2 of REACH Annex X (9.5.1), sediment toxicity testing shall be proposed by the registrant if the results of the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I indicates the need to investigate further the effects of the substance and/or relevant degradation products on sediment organisms. According to CSA, traces of FPBO released are not expected to be harmful for sediments, as the concentration of lipophilic constituents in FPBO is low.

Additional information

The uses of Fast pyrolysis bio-oil (production, distribution and use as fuel) take place in closed systems and involve minor releases into wastewater and only accidental direct releases into water systems.
