Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic invertebrates.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In analogy to the NTA acid the acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was investigated with the salt Na3NTA.

The effects of trisodium nitriloacetate on the mobility of Daphnia magna was measured according to national Dutch standard guideline [Canton and Slooff, 1982]. The 48-hour EC50 was determined to be 560 - 1000 mg/L. Further information is available from the acute toxicity of trisodium nitriloacetate to Gammarus pseudolimnaeus [Arthur, 1974]. In this study under flow through conditions the 96-hour EC50 based on measured concentrations was determined to be 98 mg/L.
