The tests for three trophic levels were performed (GLP guideline studies):

EC50 (48 h), invertebrates - 14.3 mg/L

ErC50 (72 h), alga - 37.8 mg/L, NOECr (72 h) < 1.4 mg/L

LC50 (96 h), fish - 15.6 mg/L

Ethyl centralite proved to be toxic to the freshwater organisms tested.

On the basis of the effective concentrations describing the respiration inhibition of activated sludge caused by the test substance, Centralit, the EC50 was found to be: EC50 > 1 000 mg.L-1

CONCLUSION ON C&L

Acute effect values for all three trophic levels are available. C&L is based on data from short-term tests for fish, invertebrates and algae.

Based on study results Ethyl centralite is not ready biodegradable and invertebrates Daphnia magna is the most sensitive species tested with this compound – EC50(48 h) = 14.3 mg/L.

These experimental results lead to classification Aquatic Chronic 3, H412.

 

CONCLUSION ON CSA - PNEC DERIVATION

Results of acute study (48 -h test for daphnia magna) for Ethyl centralite are used for derivation PNEC. Key value for CSA is EC50 = 14.3 mg/L
