Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The lower explosive limit and upper explosive limit of the substance Hydrocarbons, C13-C18, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, < 2% aromatics have been established by extrapolation of published data as respectively 0.5 and 5.5 % v/v.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

According to REACH guidance R7a, the flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point), their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The minimum flash point being higher than 60 °C (see section 4.11), this substance is considered as non flammable (CLP Regulation CE 1272/2008).

The molecular structure of the constituents does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties and the experience in handling and use of this substance indicates that this is the case.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The minimum flash point is > 60°C. (see section 4.11).
