Additional information

Tetrahydrofuran-borane is known to readily hydrolize liberating hydrogen, tetrahydrofuran (CAS 109-99-9) and boric acid (CAS 10043-35-3). For tetrahydrofuran relevant biodegradation data was gathered from the ECHA dissemination dossier (d.d. 2014 -04 -24). Tetrahydrofuran is qualified as readily biodegradable based on the results of a single key study. For boric acid, the concept of biodegradation does not apply as it is an inorganic substance. For regulatory purposes, inorganic substances are to be regarded as not readily biodegradable. Therefore, the parent substance tetrahydrofuran-borane needs to be qualified as not readily biodegradable.
