Description of key information

The measured Log Pow values for this UVCB range from 4.3 to greater than 6.2. 89.3% of the components of this test item have Log Pow higher than 6. A QSAR estimation (EPA EPI Suite, KOWWIN v1.68, 2000) of the Log Pow value of two major components resulted in log Pow values of 6.36 and 6.63.

To estimate the octanol/water partition coefficient of this UVCB, an experimental study was conducted in accordance with OECD testing guideline 117 and GLP requirements.


The chromatogram obtained by HPLC showed four peaks with two representing together more than 85% of all this multi-component substance. The other peaks covered each less than 10% of the total area under the curve. However, no exact value of Log Kow (>6.2) was obtained for the major components representing by the peak covering 76.7% of the area under the curve. A QSAR estimation (EPA EPI Suite, KOWWIN v1.68, 2000) of the Log Pow value of two major components resulted in log Pow values of 6.36 and 6.63.


In a conservative approach, the highest log Kow value (6.63) was selected for the chemical safety assessment.
