Additional information

Skin irritation:

The undiluted test substance was droped at a test patch (2.5 x 2.5 cm). After adsorption the patch was placed on the upper third of the back or flanks. The untreated skin sites served as the negative control. The reading of the parameter was conducted 24, 48, 72 hours, and 8 days after removal of the test patches. Based on the results of the available data, the test substance showed irritative effects after application to the skin of rabbits. [BASF, 1982]

Eye irritation:

On the basis of the findings, the test substance must be described as moderately irritating to the eyes. When the test substance acts on the eyes, corneal opacity must be expected. The pathological findings on the eye and the signs of irritation to the eye substantially subsided within 8 days. [BASF, 1978]

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results obtained in skin irritation study with rabbits, the test substance has to be classified with respect to skin irritation, cat. 2, H315 "Causes skin irritation" according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP, GHS).
