PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

1,1-dimethylheptanethiol is not readily biodegradable and is expected to meet the criteria for very persistent. With a log partition coefficient of 4.21, 1,1-dimethylheptanethiol is considered not to be bioaccumulate. As the available ecotoxicity data give a value above 0.01 mg/L, the substance is not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction and there is no other evidence of chronic toxicity as identified by classifications of R48 under DSD or STOT RE Categories 1 or 2, 1,1-dimethylheptanethiol is considered to not meet the criteria for toxic. Therefore, as it does not meet the criteria for bioaccumulative or toxic, 1,1-dimethylheptanethiol is considered not to be PBT/vPvB.
