Description of key information

The test substance is not susceptible to hydrolysis since it does not contain any hydrolysable groups [Harris, 1990]. Additionally, the substance is readily biodegradable. According to Annex VIII (Paragraph 9.2.2, Column 2) of the REACh regulation 1907/2006 a test on hydrolysis does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable or highly insoluble in water. In addition, alcohols are generally resistant to aqueous environmental hydrolysis. Therefore, 2-methylbutan-1-ol is not expected to hydrolyze in the environment.
