Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The Oxygen Balance (OB) calculation combined with an examination of the chemical structure were selected criteria as a means of predicting oxidizing properties.

The oxygen balance is calculated from the empirical formula of a compound in percentage of oxygen required for complete conversion of carbon to carbon dioxide, hydrogen to water, and metal to metal oxide.

On the basis of the rule base, the substance contains no structural groups that are indicative of oxidising properties. Although the substance contains oxygen, the atoms are only bonded to carbon and/or hydrogen, and hence oxidizing properties are generally unlikely. In addition, assessment of the oxygen balance for the substance indicates a negative value. Based on the information and review of the above substance, Indigo or Indigo Küpe is deemed not to be potentially oxidising, based on the chemical structure and oxygen balance values.
