First-aid measures

• After inhalation: Move ASAP to fresh air, transporting the person with their head higher than the body. Obtain medical attention urgently. Administer oxygen, if necessary.

• After skin contact: Immediately drench with water and continue for several minutes. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash with soap and water. Obtain medical attention urgently.

• After eye contact: Immediately wash out with plenty of water keeping eyelids apart. Continue irrigation for at least 15 mins. Obtain medical attention urgently.

After swallowing: If conscious rinse mouth and drink water. DO NOT induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention urgently. If unconscious use classical resuscitation measures.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing agents: Large quantities of water, water spray. Fight fire from distance.
Un-Suitable extinguishing agents: Powder and carbon dioxide.
Fire/explosion hazards: Oxygen released during decomposition may support combustion in event of fire. Risk for explosion when heated above 110 ºC. Risk of pressure bursts if inadequately vented e.g. if heated or in contact/mixed with incompatibles. Highly irritating vapours emitted.
Special fire fighting equipment: Use full protective clothing and self contained BA. Only use suit for maximum duration of one air cylinder.

Accidental release measures

Handle only under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Art.18(4).

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Person-related safety precautions: Keep unprotected persons away. Wear full protective clothing and self contained BA. Remove all ignition sources. Do no smoke.

Environmental precautions
Prevent from entering drains or soil. Do not contain decomposing product, if possible dilute with a large volume of water and allow to decompose in a safe environment; alternatively discharge diluted solution to sewer. Do not return to original container. Return to a clean fresh vented container.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Do not contain decomposing product, if possible dilute with a large volume of water and allow to decompose in a safe environment.
Contaminated clothing can cause fire.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:
Handle only under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Art.18(4).
Handle in closed system.
Keep away from ignition sources. Protect from contamination with acids, alkalis, metals and metal salts, organic material, flammable materials. Avoid heating above 30oC. Self Accelerated Decomposition from 45oC releasing oxygen/heat/ acetic acid/ steam.
Reacts exothermically with cyclohexanone.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Store cool in closed dedicated systems.
Protect from contamination with acids, alkalis, metals and metal salts, organic material, flammable materials.

Stability and reactivity

Stability and reactivity
The substance is stabilised to avoid natural decomposition.

Dangerous reactions
Reacts with acids, alkalis, metals and metal salts, organic material, flammable materials. Self Accelerated Decomposition starts from 45oC.

Dangerous decomposition products:
Self Accelerated Decomposition from 45oC releasing oxygen/heat/ acetic acid/ steam.

Disposal considerations

Waste of pure substance is classified as hazardous waste.
Recommended treatment method is dilution or neutralisation.
