Details on results:
The water solubility of disilver(I)sulfate is 8208 +/- 51mg/L.

The pH levels of aqueous solutions of disilver(I)sulfate were relatively constant throughout the test period (pH 5.1 -5.5) and for the blank samples a range from 5.4 to 6.0 was observed. For all blanks silver levels were below the limit of detection (< 0.01 -0.13 mg/L Ag).

For the samples from the flask with disilver(I)sulfate constant values for the silver concentrations were detected at all sampling points (variation well below the limit of 15% allowed by the test guideline). In consequence, the equilibration times used were long enough according to the test guideline.

For the calculation of the water solubility of disilver(I)sulfate the mean Ag concentration calculated from all samplings was applied.

Mean silver concentration (n=24) = 5679 +/- 35mg/L.

Therefore the water solubility of disilver(I)sulfate is calculated as follows:

5679 +/- 35 mg/L * 311.799 g/mol (Ag2SO4) / ( 2 * 107.87 g/mol (Ag)) = 8208 +/- 51 mg/L

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results: soluble (1000-10000 mg/L)
Under the conditions of this test according to OECD guideline 105, the water solubility of disilver(I)sulfate at 20.0 +/-0.5°C over a period of up to 8 days is determined as 8.21 +/- 0.05g/L.

Description of key information

Silver(I)sulfate is soluble in water. The solubility is approximately 8.2 g/L at 20°C (data from OECD 105 guideline conform study, and supported by older handbook data).
