To measure the self accelerating decomposition temperature an adiabatic heat accumulation test was performed. The start temperature was 75°C, at which no relevant self heating was observed over 24 h. Then the sample was heated at a rate of 0.5 K/h to 95°C. At this temperature significant self heating occured. The AZT24 was calculated to 93°C, the activation energy was measured to 150 kJ/mol.

At a temperature of 135°C the decomposition changed to fast deflagration.

For the evaluation of the substance with respect to the transport classification and the storage conditions, the SADT for a 50 kg- container was determined at which it shows an unlimited storage stability (equilibrium between heat dissipation and heat production inside the container). For a container with a heat loss of 30 mW/kg/K the SADT is 85°C.
