Description of key information

The 96h-LC50 of DL-Alpha-Tocopheryl acetate a precurser to DL-Alpha-Tocopherol towards Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was > 11 mg/l (measured) and thus clearly above the limit of water solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The data refer to DL-Alpha-Tocopheryl acetate a precursor of DL-Alpha-Tocopherol. The toxicity of DL-Alpha-Tocopheryl acetate towards Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was tested according to OECD Guideline 203 under GLP conditions with a limit test in a static test system (Schlienger, 1995). The measured 96h-LC50 was > 11 mg/l and thus clearly above the limit of water solubility. In a static test system established following German standard DIN 38412, part 15 testing the toxicity of DL-Alpha-Tocopheryl acetate to Leuciscus idus a nominal LC50 of >10000 mg/l was recorded after 96 hours (BASF AG, 1988).
