Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when the substance is introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The inhibitory effect of the substance of the oxygen consumption rate of aerobic microorganisms (activated sludge) after 30 minutes of exposure was studied according to OECD 209. The study was performed under GLP conditions (BASF AG, 2003, report no. 03/0084/08/1). The test met the validity criteria of OECD 209 (1984). However, in comparison with the curent guideline, there is a slight deviation from one validity criterion as the oxygen uptake rate of the blank controls is slightly below the lower limit of 20 mg O2/g*h. However, this value is assumed not to have a significant impact on the result of the test.

The test was performed as a limit test with a test concentration of 1000 mg/L. The 30-min EC20 was determined to be > 1000 mg/L.

It can be concluded that the inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when the substance is introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
