Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is readily biodegradable
Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: sediment simulation testing
Data waiving:

Description of key information

Propylene glycol dibenzoate is readily biodegradable and therefore studies to determine the half-life in water and sediment are not required.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to REACH, Annex IX, 9.2.1.2 and 9.2.1.2.4, simulation tests for biodegradation in water and sediment are not required if the substance is readily biodegradable. Propylene glycol dibenzoate has been found to be readily biodegradable in a test conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline 301 F (Ready Biodegradability: Manometric Respirometry Test) and therefore further testing is unnecessary.
