Description of key information

One study was available for assessment of the endpoint Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.
de Roode D.F. & de Haan H.P.M. (2004) 2-Ethylhexyl 4,4-dibutyl-10-ethyl-7-oxo-8-oxa-3,5-dithia-4-stannatetradecanoate [Dibutyltin bis(2¬ethyl hexylmercaptoacetate), CAS. No. 10584-98-2]: Daphnia magna, reproduction test (semi-static). Testing laboratory: NOTOX B.V. Hambakenwetering 7 5231 DD 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. Owner company: Parametrix, Inc. 5808 Lake Washington Blvd. NE, Suite 200 WA Kirkland U.S.A.. Report No: TNO Study Number: 0200B4. Report date: 2004-09-06.
The study was conducted in compliance with GLP and to the guideline OECD 211.
The 21-Day LC50 (immobilisation) value, based on percentage of WAF at 100 mg/L for the parental Daphnia generation was determined as 65%
The 21-Day EC50 (reproduction) value based on percentage of WAF at 100 mg/L was 56%
The LOEC (overall) based on percentage of WAF at 100 mg/L was 50 %, on the basis that this was the lowest test concentration with a noticable difference from the control daphnia.
The NOEC (overall) based on percentage of WAF at 100 mg/L was 10 %, on the basis that this was the highest test concentration no noticeable difference from the control daphnia.

Additional information

Read across from DBT-2EHMA (CAS: 10584-98-2) has also been used for this endpoint and this is considered the most structurally similar organotin substance with regards to diisotridecyl 3,3'-[(dibutylstannylene)bis(thio)]dipropionate.

- de Roode D.F. & de Haan H.P.M. (2004) was provided as the key study for this endpoint. The study was performed in compliance with GLP and to the OECD guideline 211. The study was assigned a reliability score of 2 due to some limitations in the methodology, however due to the properties of the test material, the administration of test material in the test system was considered the most appropriate. Exposure to 574 and 1171 tg/L DBT(EHMA) induced significant inhibition of the reproductive capacity of the parental daphnids.
