Additional information

- One available BCF study conducted in compliance with OECD guideline 305 C revealed a BCF of 10 (Gakushuin University 1997).

- A BCF calculation using the CATALOGIC v.5.11.2 BCF base-line model v02.05 is available. This model considers several mitigating factors like ionization of the molecule, water solubility, size and metabolisms. Taking into account these mitigating factors the BCF is reduced from 143.2 (log BCF = 2.1560) to 7.4 (log BCF = 0.8720), mainly due to metabolism and molecular size. Therefore, significant bioaccumulation is not to be expected in animal tissues (BASF 2011).

- EPISuite v4.0/BCFBAFv3.01: A BCF value of 68.89 was estimated on the basis of the log Kow of 10.45. Using the Arnot-Gobas method - upper trophic the BAF was estimated at 264 (BASF 2011).

- T.E.S.T.v4.01: Cluster models of the Hierarchical method (n=5), the Single model method (n = 1), the FDA method (n = 1) and the Nearest neighbor method (n = 1) were applicable to the test item. The methods were validated using statistical external validation using separate training and test data sets. The predicted BCF values ranged from 8.54 to 810.44. The BCF result of the consensus method (average of reasonable results from all models) was 86.65 (BASF, 2011).

Based on the existing data, it can be concluded that EC 411-220 -5 is not expected to significantly bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms.
