Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

To assess the chronic toxicity of 3,7-dimethyloctan-1-ol towards fish, no study results are available. The results of acute tests indicate toxic effects of 3,7-dimethyloctan-1-ol towards aquatic organisms, however, the tested invertebrate species Daphnia magna is the most sensitive organism, also compared to tested fish species. Based on this information, there is no indication that fish may be more sensitive towards chronic effects of the test substance than invertebrates. Additionally, the test substance is readily biodegradable but failing the 10-day window. It can therefore be assumed with sufficient confidence, that a chronic study with fish would not provide any additional information improving risk assessment significantly.

For this reason, and for reasons of animal wellfare a chronic study with fish is not provided for 3,7-dimethyloctan-1-ol.
