Two acute toxicity to fish studies are available.
In the first study, the acute toxicity to fish was determined in a study according to "testing methods for industrial wastewater (71 of JIS K 0102-1998)". In this study fish (O. latipes, 10 per concentration) were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 1.43, 2.57, 4.63, 8.33, and 15 mg/L for 96 hours under semi-static conditions (test medium renewal each 8 -16 hours). No analytical confirmation of nominal test concentrations was performed. Fish mortality was recorded after 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours exposure. Mortality was first seen at a concentration of 4.63 mg/L at which a cumulative mortality of 10% was noted. At a test concentration of 8.33 mg/L cumulative mortality was 50%. Finally, in the 15 mg/L test group all fish had died within 24-h after exposure. Based on these findings the 96 -h LC50 value was determined at 8.33 mg/L.
In the second study, the acute toxicity to fish was determined in a study according to OECD 203 and in compliance with GLP criteria. In this study fish (O. latipes, 8 per concentration) were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 0.988, 2.96, 4.44, 6.67, 10, 15 mg/L for 96 hours under semi-static conditions (test medium renewal each 24 hours). Analytical confirmation of nominal test concentrations showed all test concentrations remained well within ±20% of nominal concentrations throughout the test. Effect values are therefore expressed as nominal. Fish mortality was recorded after 3, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours exposure. No mortality was observed up to and including 6.67 mg/L. At a test concentration of 10 mg/L cumulative mortality was 12.5%. Finally, in the 15 mg/L test group all fish had died within 48-h after exposure. Based on these findings the 96 -h LC50 value was determined at 11.6 mg/L.
