Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with the column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study does not need to be conducted for solids, if the substance has a melting point ≤ 160°C.

Moreover, the substance decomposes under test conditions due to Self-Accelerating Decomposition and not due to an oxidative self-heating. The relevant parameter for thermal stability is the Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT). Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT) of [1,3-phenylenebis(1-methylethylidene)]bis[tert-butyl] peroxide is 80°C (reference SADT: CLP regulations 2.15.2.3 and UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, 5th revised edition, sub.sections 28.1, 28.2, 28.3 and Table 28.3).
