Description of key information

Non flammable (based on flash point).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Testing for this endpoint has been waived because the study is scientifically unjustified. The substance is a liquid (see section 4.1), and the key value for flammability of liquids is the flash point (see section 4.11).

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, Annex I, section 2.6, "Flammable liquid means a liquid having a flash point of not more than 60 °C". The flash point (IUCLID section 4.11 , CSR section 1.3), 78 °C, is higher than this value and so the substance should not be classified as a flammable liquid. However, the substance has a flash point of ≤ 93 °C. Therefore, if it is used in an aerosol at >1% the aerosol should be considered for classification in accordance with Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, Annex I, section 2.3, Figure 2.3.1. The substance is a liquid under standard conditions (IUCLID section 4.1, CSR section 1.3) with a freezing point of < -50 °C (see IUCLID section 4.2, CSR section 1.3), so the substance should not be classified as a flammable solid, and with a low vapour pressure of 1.7 Pa at 20 °C (see IUCLID section 4.6, CSR section 1.3), so the substance should not be classified as a flammable gas.
