Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with points 9.2.1.2, 9.2.1.4 and 9.2.3, Column 2 (Specific rules for adaptation from Column 1), Annex IX of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, further degradation testing shall only be considered if the Chemical Safety Assessment indicates the need to investigate further the degradation of the substance. Furthermore, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable. The ready biodegradability of the read across substance (sodium 5-oxo-DL-prolinate) was determined to be 74.4 % after 28 days in the submitted screening study at a concentration of 100 mg/L. As such the registered substance (sodium 5-oxo-L-prolinate) is also considered to degrade rapidly, as the difference in isomeric forms of the substance are unlikely to affect biodegradability. Testing for this endpoint has therefore been omitted.
