Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

1 The flash point is a property of flammable liquids, and does not apply to solids. Since test substance is solid, information on flash point is not required (see chapter 7A, section R.7.1.9 pp 115 of the ECHA guidance).

2 The test substance does not contain any functional groups identified in the UN Recommendations on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Appendix 6, Table A6.1, that are associated with explosive properties. Therefore, test substance is not considered to be explosive. No explosiveness study was conducted.

3 As test substance contains chlorine and oxygen atoms that are only bound to carbon, it was concluded that the substance will not exhibit oxidising properties. According to Regulation (EC) N0. 1907/2006, Annex VII, 7.13, column 2, testing for this endpoint was considered unnecessary based on the chemical structure. No study on oxidising properties was conducted.

4 In accordance with the endpoint specific guidance (R. 7A), there are rare occasions when it is important to have information on the stability of a compound. For example, testing might be needed, if a given test item of low solubility is tested in ecotoxicity studies upon dissolution in an organic solvent. However, in the studies considered in the present registration dossier, solubility of test substance was achieved by physical means.Testing of stability of test substance in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation products is not needed as the structure of test substance does not include reactive groups that might be associated with instability.

5 Viscosity is relevant only for liquids. As test substance is solid at room temperature and possesses a melting point that is well above room temperature, viscosity testing was considered unnecessary in this case (see chapter 7A, section R.7.1.18 of the ECHA guidance).

The results of the particle distribution study revealed that a significant amount of solid test substance particles are of an inhalable size. Accordingly, special attention has to be paid to the results of two the 21-d inhalation toxicity studies conducted with the substance (see IUCLID section 7.5.3).
