Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation : Assure fresh air breathing. Place the victim in semi-seated position. Allow the victim to rest. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Seek medical attention immediately.

Skin contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water, for at least 15 minutes. Remove affected

clothing and wash all exposed skin area with mild soap and water, followed by warm water rinse. Seek medical attention immediately.

Eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water, for at least 15 minutes. Contact ophthalmologist immediately.

Ingestion : DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Rinse mouth. Take to hospital. If swallowed, give 1 pint ofwater if victim completely conscious/alert.

Note to physician : Treat symptomatically. No specific antidote known.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media : Water. Dry chemical. Foam. Carbon dioxide.

Surrounding fires : Apply water spray or fog to cool nearby equipment.

Special exposure hazards : Under fire conditions, highly hazardous fumes will be present: CO, CO2, HCl & HF

Protection against fire : Use self-contained breathing apparatus (cfr. EN 137) and standard firefighting gear

(cfr. EN 469) when in close proximity to fire. Exercise caution when fighting any

chemical fire. Avoid (reject) fire-fighting water to enter environment.

Special procedures : Take account of toxic firefighting water and limit and contain the firefighting water

Accidental release measures

Technical measures : Ignition of a flammable product - air mixture by static discharge is possible. May form flammable dust-air mixture. Eliminate every possible source of ignition.

Personal precautions : Avoid dust production. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, and protective clothing. See also section 8 of the SDS: Exposure controles/personal protection.

Keep public away from danger area.

Environmental precautions : Prevent entry to sewers and public waters.

After spillage and/or leakage : Clean up any spills as soon as possible, using an absorbent material to collect it (vermiculite). Use suitable disposal containers.

Handling and storage

Prevention : Handle the product in closed equipment and if possible under an inert atmosphere. Sufficient local or general ventilation. Explosion proof electrical equipment . Earth the equipment and take enough time to remove the electrostatic charges. Do not use compressed air to handle the product.

Storage : May be stored at ambient temperature. Protect from low temperatures. Protect from high temperature. Store in dry, well-ventilated area. Keep container closed when not in use. Eliminate every possible source of ignition. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

Suitable packaging: : The product is stored in UN certified packaging: a double PE liner, packed in a fibredrum (1G/X../S).

Handling : Avoid all unnecessary exposure. Do not breathe dust. Ensure prompt removal from eyes, skin and clothing. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety procedures. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. Wear suitable protective clothing. See also section 8 of the SDS: Exposure controles/personal protection.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Respiratory protection : Wear a positive pressure gas mask (cfr. EN 137).

Hand protection : Wear suitable synthetic gloves (Category 3, Class 3) resistant to chemical penetration (cfr. EN 374).

Skin protection : Wear a coverall type 5, specific for manipulation of solids (cfr. ISO 13982-1).

Eye protection : See respiratory protection.

Others : Wear suitable safety shoes (cfr. EN 345 S2).

Industrial hygiene : Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

Open handling not recommended. Use an adapted installation for handling potent compounds in a closed system, so that the OEL of the product can be established.
