Description of key information

Method A.16 Relative Self-ignition Temperature for Solids, Directive 92/69/EEC, published in OJ No. L 383A, December 1992.
GLP study

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The relative self-ignition temperature of test substance was measured.

The test substance, Humic acids, sodium salts, was placed in a 20-mm cubic container constructed of stainless steel mesh and heated in an oven capable of reaching a temperature of 400 ± 2°C. The oven temperature was raised at a nominal rate of 0.5°C/minute as the internal temperature of the sample was monitored until oven temperature reaches 400°C. During heating of the test substance from laboratory temperature to 400°C, no increase in the temperature of the sample different to the temperature of the oven was observed.

No self-ignition was observed.
