The measurements in aluminium crucibles with a hole showed an endothermal effect in the temperature range of -35 -10 °C with onset temperatures of -14.0 °C and -13.7 °C, respectively. A second endothermal effect was observed in the temperature range of 250 - 320 °C.

Executive summary:

The determination of the melting point was carried out according to OECD Test guideline 102 and the European Commission Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Annex, Part A, A.1 by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

The test item was cooled down from ambient temperature to - 50 °C with a cooling rate of 10 K/min. When - 50 °C have been reached, the samples were kept for 60 min at this temperature. Afterwards, they were heated up from - 50 °C to 200 °C and 400 °C, respectively, at a constant heating rate of 10 K/min. The measurements were performed in a defined atmosphere (nitrogen). The quantity of heat absorbed or released was measured and recorded. Aluminium crucibles with

a small hole were used as containers for the test item and as empty reference crucible. The test item has a melting point of -13.8°C.
