In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex X, the need for toxicity testing with birds depends on the available mammalian dataset. In addition the guidance on CSA and IR indicates the potential for secondary poisoning should be considered when deciding whether or not testing is required. For this UVCB substance, such testing in birds is not deemed necessary based on the following arguments: (1) it is readily biodegradable (2) it has a low bioaccumulative potential as the Log Kow is too high (Measured Log Kow on the analogue TMP Pelargonate is > 6.2, estimated one is > 8). (3) it is not classified for any human health endpoint. In combination, these three factors mitigate the risk for secondary poisoning, thus rendering the toxicity testing in birds superfluous.
