The key value was determined by the HPLC method (EU method A.8) in accordance with GLP requirements (Laus, 2003).

The chromatogram of the test item gave two peaks (RT = 10.721 and 11.829 min) because the test item consists of the two isomers Nicotinsäure-isopentylester and Nicotinsäure-n-pentylester. With the help of the calibration, the log Pow could be determined.
The test item Nicotinsäurepentylester has a log Pow of 2.71 for the iso-pentylester and of 2.80 for the n-pentylester.
