Description of key information

No information is available for the technical isomeric mixture itself. But the half-life of 2-isopropylnaphthalene taken as supporting substance was determined in aqueous solutions under irradiation with simulated sunlight.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in water:
22.3 h

Additional information

Direct photolysis of 2-isopropylnaphthalene was investigated by irradiation of test material in aqueous solution (0.01 mMol/L) for 96 h with a high-pressure mercury lamp (100 W) (artificial sunlight). Half-life (DT50) in distilled water was determined to be 22.3 hours. Irradiation in salt water ( 4 hrs, 0.5 M NaCl) resulted in a half-life of 1 hour.
