Description of key information

Tetrabutane is not acutely harmful to earthworms.
NOEC (14-days) ≥ 1000 mg/kg soil dw. (OECD 207).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for soil macroorganisms:
1 000 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

Tetrabutane was tested in an acute toxicity study with earthworms (Eisenia fetida) according to the guideline OECD 207. The study was conducted as a limit test at 1000 mg/kg soil dw., over a duration of 14 days. No mortality, pathological symptoms, changes in behaviour or biologically significant reduction in bodyweight were recorded. The NOEC was determined to be ≥ 1000 mg/kg soil dw.. Tetrabutane was therefore considered not to be harmful to earthworms.
