Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key study: Based on the read-across approach from experimental data on acetone oxime (test method OECD 201, GLP study), the EC50 and NOEC (basis for effect: growth rate) at 72 hour exposure for EAC3 in Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata were determined to be 315.36 and 62.34 mg/L respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
315.36 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
62.34 mg/L

Additional information

Key study: Read-across approach from the analogue substance acetone oxime:

A Growth inhibition test with the analogue substance Acetone oxime on Algae (Pseudokirchneriella subpicata) was performed in accordance with OECD Guideline 201 (GLP study). The effect of test item was assessed on algal growth over an exposure period of 72 hours. Based on a preliminary range-finding test, the nominal concentrations of the analogue used in the main experiment were 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 mg/L. The EC50 were determined to be 252.92 mg/L (basis for effect: growth rate), 122.46 mg/L (basis for effect: yield) and 141.44 mg/L (basis for effect: biomass). With respect to the inhibitory effect of the test item, the 0-72 h average specific growth rates, yield and areas were significantly different from that of the control group in the examined concentration range of 100 - 800 mg/L (nominal). The overall NOEC was determined as 50 mg/L (nominal); the overall LOEC was determined as 100 mg/L (nominal). Based on these results, the read-across approach was applied and the 72h-EC50 in for the substance EAC3 were determined to be 315.36 mg/L (basis for effect: growth rate), 152.69 mg/L (basis for effect: yield) and 176.36 mg/L. The overall NOEC and LOEC for EAC3 were determined as 62.34 mg/L and 124.69 mg/L respectively.
