Short-term toxicity to fish:

Data on the toxicity of the mixture N3/N4-amine to fish are not available.

Considering the constutients N-(2 -aminoethyl)-1,3 -propanediamine (CAS 13531-52-7), N,N'-bis(3 -aminopropyl)ethylenediamine (CAS 10563-26-5) and ethylenediamine (CAS 107-15 -3), N3/N4 -amine may be considered as acutely not harmful to fish. Tests with these compounds on fish resulted in LC50 (96h) values in the range from 115.7 to 318.1 mg/L. Test data on 1,3-propanediamine, N,N''-(iminodi-2,1-ethanediyl)bis- (CAS 58214-71-4) are not available. Therefore, data from the structurally analogous compound tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA; CAS 112 -57 -2) was used: 96-h LC50: 420 mg/L.

In conclusion, the mixture N3/N4-amine is concluded by weight-of-evidence to be with high probability acutely not harmful to fish.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

The toxicity of the mixture N3/N4-Amine (CAS 68909-99-9) to aquatic invertebrates was investigated in a semi-static GLP guideline study conducted according to OECD TG 202 using Daphnia magna as test organism. Based on nominal test concentrations, a 48-h EC50 of 52.1 mg/L was determined, indicating the substance to be acutely harmful to aquatic invertebrates.

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria:

In a test conducted according to OECD guideline 201 investigating the toxicity of 2-Propenenitrile, reaction products with ethylenediamine, hydrogenated (CAS 68909-99-9) to algae an ErC50 of > 320 mg/l was determined after 72 hours of exposure.

In conclusion, the substance is with high probability acutely not harmful to algae.

Toxicity to microorganisms:

In a short-term respiration test according to OECD 209 conducted with 2-Propenenitrile, reaction products with ethylenediamine, hydrogenated (CAS 68909-99-9) an EC50 (180 min) of 490 mg/L was determined. The test was performed using domestic sludge. In conclusion, the substance is with high probability acutely not harmful to microorganisms.
