Description of key information

If released to the environment the main compartment of distribution of Methylic Adduct (1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethane) is expected to be the atmosphere.

Additional information

Considering the chemical structure, Methylic Adduct (1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethane) is anticipated to not undergo to significant biotic degradation in any of the environmental compartments. No information are available on the potential abiotic degradation processes.

Basing on the experimentally determined Log Kow of 2.03, 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2(trifluoromethoxy)ethane is not expected to bioaccummulate in aquatic organism.

Basing on the calculated log Koc of 2.08 the substance is expected to have a limited affinity for organic carbon and to be mobile in soil.

The high Henry Law’s constant - calculated to be 8.82 x 10 E4 Pa m3/mol at 20°C - indicates that the product has tendency to volatilize from water reaching the atmospheric compartment. This is consistent with the observations in ecotoxicological studies, where difficoulties were encountered in avoiding volatilization of the substance from the test vessels keeping the concentration constant during the exposure period.
