Measured data was not available for [3 -(triethoxysilyl)propyl]urea (CAS 23779-32-0), therefore read across of data from the comparable substances ureidopropyltrialkoxysilane, mixed methoxy and ethoxy esters (CAS 116912-64-2) was deemed acceptable for assessment.

The influence of the test item ureidopropyltrialkoxysilane, mixed methoxy and ethoxy esters on the respiration rate of activated sludge was investigated according to OECD 209 and GLP (NOTOX, 1999b). The nominal test concentrations were 32, 56, 100, 180, 284 mg/l. No inhibition in respiration rate of the sludge was recorded in any of the concentrations tested. Hence, the EC50 for the test item exceeded 284 mg/l. The respiration rates of control were within 15% of each other. The EC50 of the reference substance, 3,5 -dichlorophenol, was 7 mg/l. Therefore, the test was considered to be valid.
