Reference
Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is an organic substance or mixture containing chemical groups associated with explosive properties, but the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500°C

Description of key information

The test substance is determined not to have explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Exothermic decomposition behavior was tested by Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) according to VDI 2263, Part 1. The sample was heated in a closed glass container at a linear rate of 3 K/min. The temperature difference between sample and reference (Al2O3) was measured as a function of temperature.

The measurable start of exothermic reaction was at 130°C. The measured heat release was 330 J/g.

In accordance with Column 2 adaptation statement of REACH Annex VII, information requirement section 7.11, the study does not need to be conducted based on substance having an exothermic decomposition energy < 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition being below 500°C.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

Based on the above mentioned results and according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the fourteenth time in Regulation (EC) 2020/217, the substance is not considered to be classified for explosiveness.
