Administrative data

Endpoint:
skin irritation: in vivo
Type of information:
migrated information: read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
weight of evidence
Study period:
12 May - 16 Jul 1987
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: see 'Remark'
Remarks:
GLP guideline study, tested with the source substance CAS 92044-87-6. According to the ECHA guidance document “Practical guide 6: How to report read-across and categories (Dec 2012)”, the reliability was changed from RL1 to RL2 to reflect the fact that this study was conducted on a read-across substance.

Amount / concentration applied:
TEST MATERIAL
- Amount(s) applied (volume or weight with unit): 0.5 mL
Duration of treatment / exposure:
4 hours
Observation period:
7 days (because of the complete reversibility of all irritation reactions)

Reading time points: 45 min, 24, 48 and 72 h and 7 days after removal of the patches
Number of animals:
3 females
Details on study design:
TEST SITE
- Area of exposure: left flank, 6 cm²
- Type of wrap if used: The test substance was applied to a gauze patch, which was attached with a drop of petrolatum to aluminium foil and mounted on permeable tape (Micropore, 3M, St. Paul, USA). Finally, the animals were wrapped in flexible bandage (Coban, 3M, St. Paul, USA)

REMOVAL OF TEST SUBSTANCE
- Washing (if done): yes, using a dry tissue and subsequently a tissue moistened with tap-water
- Time after start of exposure: after 4 hours exposure duration
