Description of key information

The following key study was provided to fulfil the data requirement under particle size distribution (granulometry):
Walker JA & White DF (2010) DETERMINATION OF GENERAL PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES. Testing laboratory: Harlan Laboratories Limited, Shardlow Business Park, Shardlow, Derbyshire, DE72 2GD, UK. Owner company: Organo Tin REACH Consortium, c/o ReachCentrum, Avenue E. Van Nieuwenhuyse 6, B-1160, Brussels, BELGIUM. Report No.: 3109/0048. Report date: 2010-08-10
Particle size data have been acquired using a procedure designed to comply with the European Commission technical guidance docunt 'Particle Size Distribution, Fibre Length and Diameter Distribution' (June 1996), which satisfies the requirents of OECD Guideline 110. The study was considered reliable for assessment.
The results are as follows:
Proportion of test item having an inhalable particle size <100 µm = 20.5% (Sieve)
Proportion of test item having a thoracic particle size <10.0 µm = 2.23% (Cascade Impactor)
Proportion of test item having a respirable particle size <5.5 µm = 0.689% (Cascade Impactor)

Additional information

The key study Walker & White (2010), was assigned a reliability score of 1 according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the study was conducted in accordance with a recognised guideline and GLP.
