explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
Justification for type of information:
In accordance with Annex VII, column 2 of the REACH Regulation, this study does not need to be conducted if there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule. The chemical structure of BMI was assessed with reference to the screening procedures published in Appendix 6 of the United Nations "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria" (refer to "Any other details on materials and methods" below for details). On the basis that none of the structural features listed in the screening procedures are present in the structure of BMI, it is concluded that BMI does not possess explosive properties.

Description of key information

BMI was determined not to have explosive properties on the basis of an assessment of the chemical structure.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

BMI was determined not to possess explosive properties on the basis of an evaluation of the chemical structure. BMI is therefore considered not to meet the criteria for classification as explosive under the CLP Regulation.
