The ready biodegradability potential of 1-ethylpiperidine (CAS 766 -09 -6) was assessed in a GLP guideline study following OECD 310 (CO2 Headspace Test; enhanced test period of 60 d) using domestic sludge. The test substance was determined to be readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria as the degree of biodegradation reached 68% after 20 days. The 10 -days window was fulfilled. At the end of the exposure period (60 d), the biodegradation had reached 94% (BASF, 2012).

This result is supported by an inherent biodegradability test according to OECD guideline 302B (Inherent biodegradability: Zahn Wellens/ EMPA Test). Using activated sludge (industrial), the removal degree of 1 -Ethylpiperidine was 96% after 27days (BASF AG 1987; test no. 01.122).
