Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A study was conducted to determine the toxicity of the test substance, trichloro(N,N-dimethyloctylamine)boron, to the green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. according to OECD Guideline 201 and EU Method C3, in compliance with GLP. Following a preliminary range-finding test, the algae were exposed to solutions of the test substance at nominal concentrations of 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100% v/v saturated solution (three replicate flasks per concentration) for 72 hours, under constant illumination and shaking at a temperature of 24 ± 1 °C.  Analysis of the test preparations at 0 hours showed measured test concentrations to range from 0.027 to 0.95 mg/L. A slight decline in measured test concentrations was observed at 72 hours in the range of 0.018 to 0.78 mg/L (68% to 83% of the 0 hour measured test concentrations) and hence it was considered appropriate to calculate the results based on the geometric mean measured test concentration only in order to give a “worst case” analysis of the data. Under the study conditions, the nominal 72 h EC50 were found to be 0.13 and 0.0068 mg/L based on growth rate and yield respectively and 72 NOAEC were found to be 0.022 mg/L based on growth rate and yield (Harlan, 2014).
