Additional information

According to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008), acute aquatic toxicity is normally determined using fish, crustacean species and/or an algal species. These species cover a range of trophic levels and taxa and are considered as surrogate for all aquatic organisms.

Short-term toxicity information are available for fish and invertebrates. In the case of algae, which resulted to be the most sensitive organism, data are available both for short- and long-term toxicity.

The NOEC for the most sensitive specie resulted to be higher than 1 mg/l; propiophenone is very water soluble (i.e. 1.2 g/l); it has a log Kow lower than 4 (indicating a low potential for bioaccumulation) and is rapidly biodegradable.

According to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008), a classification as harmful/toxic for aquatic life is not proposed for propiophenone.
