First-aid measures
General advice: Move out of dangerous area. In the case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label where possible). Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Inhalation: Move to fresh air. If unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical advice.
Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use. Cover wound with sterile dressing. Immediate medical treatment is necessary as untreated wounds from corrosion of the skin heal slowly and with difficulty. If skin irritation persists, call a physician. Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.
Eye contact: Protect unharmed eye. In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Remove contact lenses.
Ingestion: Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Prevent vomiting if possible. Immediately give large quantities of water to drink. If a person vomits when lying on his back, place him in the recovery position. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If accidentally swallowed obtain immediate medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media
- Suitable extinguishing media: Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.
- Extinguishing media which shall not be used for safety reasons: High volume water jet
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
- Specific hazards during fire fighting: Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.
Advice for firefighter:
- Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
- Further information: In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes. Use water spray to cool unopened containers. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
- Personal precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid dust formation. Use personal protective equipment. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.
Environmental precautions
- Environmental precautions: Should not be released into the environment. Avoid subsoil penetration. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up
- Methods for cleaning up: Pick up and transfer to properly labelled containers. Use mechanical handling equipment.
- Additional advice: Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling:
- Advice on safe handling: Plan first aid action before beginning work with this product. Wear personal protective equipment.
In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at machinery and at places where dust can be generated. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed. During processing, dust may form explosive mixture in air. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. When using do not smoke.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
- Requirements for storage areas and containers: Store in original container. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. To maintain product quality, do not store in heat or direct sunlight.
- Advice on common storage: No special restrictions on storage with other products.
- Other data: Keep in a dry place. No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.
Specific end uses:
Cosmetic ingredient
