Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Adsorption to solid soil phase is expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Under environmental conditions the test substance will dissociate into its ions, acetate and the ethylviolet-cation.

Acetate/acetic acid is readily biodegradable.

Under environmental conditions (pH about 7) the ethylviolet-cation exists predominantly in its forms with one and two positive charges. Hence, a Koc estimation via QSAR does not make sense. Therefore a method for the experimental determination of the adsorption of dyestuffs on activated sludge (Pagga & Taeger 1994) was used. In this test a Kd-value of 10800 L/kg was obtained.
