1. Information on zirconium dioxide (CAS# 1314-23-4)

The available toxicological data on zirconium dioxide indicate that there is no need to derive DNEL values, as no hazards could be identified in any of the available tests. Not all available tests have however been included in this dossier because in this dossier only Annex VII endpoints need to be covered.

Nevertheless, currently there are some regulatory values values available for occupational exposure via inhalation, such as the following:

- TWA (time weighted average): 5 mg/m3

- STEL (short-term exposure limit): 10 mg/m3

2. Information on erbium oxide (CAS# 12061-16-4)

The available toxicological data on erbium oxide indicate that there is no need to derive DNEL values, as no hazards could be identified in any of the available tests. Not all available tests have however been included in this dossier because in this dossier only Annex VII endpoints need to be covered.

No regulatory exposure limits are available for occupational exposure.

3. Conclusion on erbium zirconium oxide

Based on the toxicological data available on zirconium dioxide and erbium oxide, it can be concluded that there is no need to derive DNEL values, as no hazards could be identified in any of the available tests.
