Description of key information

no self-ignition

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to the guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7a Section 7.1.12, the self-ignition test should be carried out using the standard test for relative self-ignition temperature in Annex V of 67/548/EEC which is performed by continuous heating of the substance until either the substance ignites or the limit value (400°C) is reached. A melting point study has been conducted with silicon orthophosphate up to a limit of 1000 °C, no propensity for self-ignition has been seen up to this temperature and therefore further testing for this endpoint is considered to be scientifically unjustified.
