Additional information

One study (2007, Archroma) was performed on Direct Black 80 for acute toxicity to Daphnia Magna following OECD 202, Immobilisation test.

A screening test with nominal concentrations of 100, 10 and 1 mg/1, respectively, was performed.

At all nominal test concentrations no significant effects ( <10 % immobilization) were observed after 24 and 48 h of exposure.

Therefore, the EC0, 48h and the EC50, 48h were found to be ≥ 100 mg/l.

According to Directive 93/21/EEC (adaptation to Directive 67/548/EEC) the ecotoxicological classification of Direct Black 80 is 'not toxic' to Daphnia magna after an exposure period of 48 hours.
